HARARE – The CSR Network Zimbabwe, a body which promotes corporate social responsibility, facilitates and support responsible business conduct in Zimbabwe is challenging the public to mask up properly to reduce the spread and to avoid contracting the deadly COVID -!9 virus.
This comes after the realisation that most people are only masking up to avoid police arrests. In a survey done by the organisation it was found that most people are not wearing masks as they go on their day-to-day business. For those who attempt to put on masks they are not properly covering their noses and mouth as recommended by health experts.
The research also notes with concern that in the rural areas most people are not even putting on masks arguing that Covid-19 is only prevalent in the cities and towns.
It is from the above that CSR Network Zimbabwe is embarking on a MASK UP ZIMBAWE CAMPAIGN to raise awareness on the importance of wearing face masks.
The Network is also calling upon individuals and the corporate world to join in this campaign.
As part of the campaign the Network is mobilising facemasks for donation to vulnerable members of the society.
“As the country grapples with Covid 19 pandemic fight, the CSR Network Zimbabwe members together with other stakeholders would like to take a lead role in supporting government efforts to curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus which is wreaking havoc across our communities particularly the vulnerable of society,” an official from the network said.
The project which will run under the theme, “Responding to the COVID 19 Pandemic “MASK UP ZIMBABWE CAMPAIGN”, is meant to promote the prevention and containment of the Covid 19 pandemic with a particular focus on the elderly, children, women, disabled and other disadvantaged members of our society.
