HARARE – As the date to host the 7th Zimbabwe Annual ESG & Responsible Business Achievement Awards 2023 draws near we are excited to introduce to you the panel of adjudicators by profiling them. This week will be featuring Peta-Jane Spong who is a reputed Sustainability expert in Zimbabwe.
Peta-Jane is a sustainability consultant based in Harare with over 20 years working experience.
Peta-Jane has been involved in various environmental audits/ due diligence reviews for a variety of organisations – focussing on their environmental and social risks along with their compliance with local laws, international standards and/ or industry best practices. She is therefore very familiar with the legal and regulatory framework pertaining to E&S in Zimbabwe.
She has worked on a broad range of projects in the energy, mining, manufacturing, water resources, waste management, tourism, agriculture and service provision sectors.
Meanwhile ESG Network Zimbabwe is pleased to invite entries and nominations for the ESG Achievement Awards 2022/2023. Returning for the 7th year, the awards continue to promote pioneering initiatives for all businesses and stakeholders to flourish through demonstration of commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. The application period is open until 20 October 2023.
Previous winners represented household names from various industries and this year, the awards have opened with the theme “ESG Champions: Pioneering Sustainable Development,” which aims to celebrate businesses, individuals, and non-profits who have integrated ESG into every level of their operations. These early adopters have taken the path of trial and error, inspiring us to take the first step towards meaningful change.
The award categories focus on companies’ ESG leadership, demonstrated through their holistic reporting, effective operations, and innovative approach to sustainable development. Winners will be selected by esteemed jurors and presented at the Awards Ceremony dinner, tentatively scheduled for 24 November 2023.
ESGNZ is a non-profit organization founded in 2016 with a mission to promote ESG practices in Zimbabwe and beyond, facilitate ESG education, and encourage a balance between commercial and non-commercial organizations. Ultimately, ESGNZ hopes to co-create a better ESG ecosystem in Zimbabwe and Africa.
