In 6 months, DINSON IRON AND STEEL COMPANY which is poised to become the biggest iron and steel company in Africa has changed the narrative of different communities through its various social responsibility interventions that have seen different communities and organizations benefiting.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Policy of Dinson
This policy encompasses Dinson’s philosophy towards corporate social responsibility and lays down the guidelines and mechanism for undertaking socially relevant programs for sustainable development of the community at large and also to comply with all the local regulations
Policy Objectives
- Dinson has embarked upon the process of institutionalizing its commitment at being socially responsible with an aim of sustainable development of the society. The purpose of this policy is to define the company’s vision, guiding principles, governance structures, strategy and programs for its corporate social responsibility efforts.
- For the Company, sustainability means balancing economic, environmental and social needs to find the best available solution which is essential to ensure a more sustainable future.
- In this regard, the Company is integrating sustainability more closely into all business processes and by making it the starting point for new business opportunities.

DINSON aims is to uplift society by investing beyond mining through engaging in corporate social responsibility programmes.
- DINSON’s corporate social responsibility programmes started to take a strategic perspective in January 2022. Since then, we have employed a profound history of partnerships with communities through our vibrant corporate social responsibility policy.
- First and foremost, DINSON sponsored traditional ceremonies conducted by local Chiefs as part of cultural activities for purposes of getting permission to commence establishment
Employment opportunities
- Dinson has so far employed more than 500 people from the local communities.
- The company has a local participatory approach to recruitment of its employees whereby the local leadership is coordinated through the District Development Coordinator and names are transmitted to the company
Dinson provides food and accommodation for its employees
- The catering company has also employed locals for catering services
- Local communities provide the company with farm produce and hence have a ready market
DINSON constructed and commissioned 9 homes for the families who were affected by the establishment of the industry
A three bedroomed house, hut and toilets for the resettled farmers at different stages of construction
Dinson provided water for the families that were relocated
- Dinson constructed cattle pans for the people who were relocated to pave way for the plant
- Dinson collects sand from the Munyati river. Communities around the area have been getting water from the river. Dinson went on to drill borehole for the communities settled along the Munyati River.
- Dinson has already started work on the road which links it with the Harare Beit Bridge Highway – Tarring of the road is to start in 2023
- The coming in of Dinson has resulted in the consideration of establishment of a big town which will cater for more than 50 000 residents. Drawings for the new town have been done by the Rural District Council This will bring about total transformation in Mvuma Manhize
- Dinson is constructing a new bridge. The Manhize Munyati Bridge. The bridge will serve both the communities and the company. For many years local communities have had challenges of crossing the Munyati River during the rainy season
- Network Connectivity Netone and Econet.
- Dinson constructed a tower which has been used by both Netone and Econet to provide network for both communities and the company
- Employment of locals during powerline construction at 90% are locals affected by transmission line
Sport Development Programme
Guided by its Wellness Policy, the company is committed to developing and promoting sport for its employees and local communities in order to harness the spirit of unity and teamwork within the team and the community while promoting wellness. During the review period, the Company constructed a football pitch and is due to upgrade it to meet requirements by ZIFA.
