MUREWA -The CSR Network Zimbabwe has embarked on a nationwide tree planting drive targeting schools and rural communities which are badly affected by deforestation.
CSR Network Zim Committee member Tendai Mudzamiri said the organisation is targeting schools so that they teach the school children the value and importance of trees while they are still young. CSRNZ donated more than 1000 eucalyptus trees to high density suburb schools in Kambuzuma west of Harare.
Rukudzo primary school head appreciated the gesture saying the donation will go a long way to replenish and replace the old trees that have become a hazard to the kids as they sometimes fall during the wet season.
On the other end CSR Network Zim Executive Director Willard Razawo took time to travel to Mashonaland east province where the organisation also donated over 2000 trees to various schools including a local community in Murewa South.
The headman of the village Mr Hakata expressed gratitude saying his village is fast becoming a desert due to random cutting down of trees for domestic firewood and for firing traditional bricks ovens.
