Message for the Executive Director-Willard Razawo
Fellow Zimbabweans, I hope I find you well in the midst of this COVID-19 Pandemic which is wreaking untold panic and havoc in our communities. As we kick off the new year in a lock down mode, we are all challenged to remain vigilant and focused on not only averting the spread of this pandemic but on oiling the economic engine of our great country as well.
COVID-19 is still a reality that we must all confront, especially the most vulnerable people in our societies. The unbelievable stream of events and accelerated rate of new COVID-19 infections and deaths recorded so far points out once more to the need for placing inclusiveness high on all our agendas as we combat the spread and effects of this pandemic.
In tandem with our efforts to fight COVID-19 we must not forget to equally come up with sustainable plans to advance the interest of business as well as to protect our environment, and to support the vulnerable.
The better part of 2020, had seen us witness positive changes, allowing us to look forward to the new year ahead with hope, confidence, and some level of trust, and we must not let the start of 2021 dampen neither our mood or outlook.
In that regard let me applaud our members, the private sector and other stakeholders for their continued resolve to support our vulnerable communities through their various CSR interventions and I encourage them to continue doing the same going forward.
Our desire and determination as a nation to attain upper middle-income status and the United Nations Agenda 2030 of attaining the Sustainable Development Goals must therefore always remain in focus no matter what other unforeseen and dire circumstances may arise in the future. While the SDGs provide a common language and direction for all stakeholders, in 2021 we should move beyond using the attractive SDGs logo to brand publications and instead act upon them and make the effort collectively by forming collaborative platforms and alliances with all relevant stakeholders.
It is through our hard work, as citizens both individual and corporate, that we can genuinely make progress and win the fight against COVID-19 and economic activity deterioration. It’s time that we demand sustainable leadership, stakeholder engagement and consultation to find lasting solutions to challenges facing us.
As a national Network our 2021 activities and programming are aimed at positioning companies to achieve sustainable growth and community empowerment initiatives.
Below are some of the activities we look forward to undertake as we forge ahead. Take note that if the COVID-10 pandemic continues we will be forced to do most of our activities virtually.
