We are pleased to share the highlights from Day 1 of the Zimbabwe ESG Leadership & Responsible Business Summit 2025, held on August 4th at the Elephant Hills Hotel in Victoria Falls. The day was filled with insightful discussions, expert presentations, and valuable networking opportunities.
Morning Session
- Registration & Introductions: Attendees gathered early for registration and introductions, setting a collaborative tone for the day.
- Key Presentations:
- Unpacking SI 48 of 2025, Carbon Trading Regulations: Mr. Washington Zhakata shared critical insights into the new Carbon Trading Regulations, emphasizing their importance for sustainable practices in Zimbabwe.
- Panel Discussion: A dynamic panel, chaired by Mr. Andrew Matiza, featured discussions on integrating fragmented ESG and sustainability legislation into a cohesive national framework. Panelists included experts from various sectors, fostering a rich dialogue on the challenges and opportunities ahead.
Afternoon Session
- Official Conference Opening: Honourable Evelyn Ndlovu, Minister of Environment, Climate and Wildlife, delivered a keynote address, emphasizing the government’s commitment to sustainable development.
- Workshops and Discussions:
- Ms. Tambu Ndoro presented on developing climate change response strategies for Zimbabwe’s mining industry, sparking engaging conversations among attendees.
- Networking Opportunities: The evening concluded with a sunset cruise, offering participants a chance to network in a relaxed setting.
