Over 30 participants from 16 companies participated at the just ended Environment, Social and Governance/CSR workshop retreat that took place in Vumba, Mutare. The workshop which ended on a high note challenged ESG Network Zimbabwe to continue raising awareness on sustainability and ESG in Zimbabwe as the topic has become relevant in recent years.
The ESG/CSR Retreat workshop ran under the theme Shaping and Setting the Zimbabwe ESG Landscape.
Below is the list of the workshop resolutions:
- ESG Network Zimbabwe (ESGNZ) should lobby Government to encourage adoption of ESG and some kind of ESG enforcement mechanism through policy and legislation.
- ESG Network Zimbabwe (ESGNZ to Develop mechanisms to support SMEs in ESG implementation.
- ESG Network Zimbabwe (ESGNZ to develop a local ESG framework that is universal for all companies and has minimum ESG standard requirements.
- ESG Network Zimbabwe (ESGNZ) to Amplify small actions like encouraging local authorities to provide accessible rubbish bins as a way of demonstrating the benefits of ESG.
- ESG Network Zimbabwe (ESGNZ) to Target schools and assist with strategies to teach ESG to learners.
- ESG Network Zimbabwe (ESGNZ) Network should take the role of being the foremost ESG Evangelist in Zimbabwe.
- ESG Network Zimbabwe (ESGNZ) Network should leverage on the current small number of affiliated consultants to provide ESG resources to members.
- ESG Network Zimbabwe (ESGNZ) Network should identify a greater number pf consultants to assist with ESG agenda.
- ESG Network Zimbabwe (ESGNZ) strategy should reflect the ESG agenda and should develop measurable action plans.
