ZIMBABWE TELECOMMUNICATIONS regulator, POTRAZ has embarked on an ambitious nation-wide community empowerment project where it is set to sink boreholes in the most underdeveloped communities of the country.
The project will see POTRAZ sink solar powered boreholes in the eight rural provinces of Zimbabwe with the first project already done in Makoni Rural district last week where the telecoms regulator sunk two boreholes and donated food hampers and blankets to the vulnerable group of people in the province of Manicaland.
CSR Network Zimbabwe Executive Director said the project is set to transform the lives of rural communities through the provision of clean and safe water for drinking which will go a long way in protecting people against water borne diseases.
POTRAZ Head Marketing and International Relations, Sibonginkosi Muteyiwa said they embarked on this project to compliment government efforts to transform communities in pursuit of vision 2030.
She added that this project will also empower youths and women through the creation of jobs in the various communities.
“The youths and women can leverage on this project to do horticulture and community gardens which will also improve the country’s food security and nutrition,” she remarked.
