More than 20 companies walked away with different accolades at the just ended Mash-West Environment, Responsible Business & CSR Awards which were held in Kariba last Friday.
The prestigious Responsible Business Awards ran under the theme: Celebrating Sustainability Excellence towards achieving vision 2030.
The awards were given to companies that are positively impacting on their stakeholders, the lives of communities in which they operate as well as the environments in which they operate in the Mashonaland West Province.
CSRNZ Board Chairperson Lucy Marowa told delegates that the awards were not competition awards adding that all companies were winners as they are bound by one common goal of changing the fortunes of our vulnerable communities in our quest to achieve vision 2030.
“Ladies and gentlemen tonight we are celebrating your hard work of delivering and pioneering new strategies as well as sharing what it takes to be one of the leading Zimbabwe responsible businesses”, she remarked.
We want Zimbabwe to be recognized in the region and internationally for its CSR excellence and the leadership position that our businesses take in contributing to a better society.
CSRNZ Executive Director Willard Razawo weighed in challenging companies that CSR is more than a one-off set of initiatives or a glossy report but it is about the Purpose of your business”.
He added that as a country we need to culture a strong tradition of community involvement regardless of the size of our businesses.
